Stan Pleskunas
has a couple of very cool products I would
like to recommend. He has created a very thoughtfully designed line
management device (LMD) for the boat and a stripping basket for the beach.
In case you are not aware of what a LMD is, it is a container for
stripping your fly line into.
A good LMD should be
able to hold water, be stable, have a spot to grip it and have some sort
of spikes on the bottom to keep the line from tangling….which is one of
the main functions. On a boat, it is just indispensable. You can keep your
line stripped out and put your rod in it and make a run to your next spot
and nothing tangles and you are immediately ready to cast. With a small
amount of water in the bottom your running line won’t dry and tangle.
I’ve tried several
and this is the best one I’ve used.
This model cost
$175.00
Stan can even make you
a custom “saddle” for when it is rough. This will keep the LMD from
falling over or walking around on the deck. When you get to your fishing
spot just release the bungee cord and you can move the LMD where you need
it. See how he made one for me
as a rail mount for the bow.
He is also just about
ready to release a wearable stripping basket for the beach fisherman. What
I like about his proto type model is that it does not loose its shape or
sag like so many I’ve seen. It has the built in spikes and it drains
with large holes on the bottom.
