                              Skiff Charters 

Until the end of summer I will now have some limited dates available for fly fishing the Monterey Bay for Rockfish on the inshore areas of Santa Cruz.

I like to schedule the rockfish trips when we have the least tidal movement (Neap Tides). The fish are higher up in the water column then and sometimes fall for surface flies. I also go at very first light since they seem to also be most active then.

Most of the fishing will be done with 30' lead core shooting heads on small diameter running lines in the first 10 to 25 of water. The techniques are relatively simple and the fish are not too fussy.

We will meet at the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor launch ramp (next to the Crow's Nest Restaurant). We are usually off the water by early afternoon due to the winds that usually develope.

Stripers:

 I am also offer trips guiding O'Neil Forebay and San Luis Reservoir for stripers from my 18 foot Scout this season and will offer weekend days through the summer. The Forebay offers excellent top water action at times on gurglers or crease flies.

We will be fishing from my 18 foot Scout center console. The boat is nicely equipped to accommodate two anglers. There is a comfortable casting deck in the bow and a large open area in the stern. I have the large stripping baskets for each angler to aid in line control and make casting simple. The boat is very safe with a self bailing hull and powered by a new  Yamaha 4 stroke engine. It is quiet and free of odors. For optimal positioning I have a bow mounted trolling motor with auto pilot. 

Equipment can be provided too. I use Sage rods and Tibor and Bauer reels to enhance your experience. 

Cost is $400 for one or two anglers .

 I will supply drinks and ice. Please wear non marking  sole shoes.

Don't forget your valid California fishing license too.
